HAUSER - "Waka Waka"
“With ‘Waka Waka’ I wanted to take cultures from all around the world and bring them together..."
On September 16, 2022, renowned Croatian cellist HAUSER released his dynamic rendition of "Waka Waka," the iconic 2010 hit by Shakira. This track serves as the grand finale of his solo dance album, The Player, and features a vibrant collaboration with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.
In this innovative cover, HAUSER infuses the original Afropop anthem with his signature cello artistry, blending triumphant brass, radiant strings, and frenetic rhythms. A standout element is the inclusion of the exultant harmonies from Bongi Duma, the same choir featured in Disney's The Lion King, adding a rich layer of cultural resonance.
Reflecting on the project, HAUSER stated, "With 'Waka Waka,' I wanted to take cultures from all around the world and bring them together in one song. There's so many different influences happening, and the choir adds so much spirit—it was an incredible moment of love and unity and absolute joy."
The accompanying music video, released simultaneously, showcases a colorful, dance-filled celebration that complements the song's energetic fusion of global sounds. The visual narrative emphasizes themes of unity and joy, aligning seamlessly with the track's vibrant arrangement.
Groove Media played a pivotal role in the social media creation and promotion of both the music and video, amplifying the project's reach and engagement across various platforms.
HAUSER's rendition of "Waka Waka" not only pays homage to the original but also reimagines it through a classical lens, bridging diverse musical traditions and delivering a message of global unity.
