Sunnyvale Community Services

Event photography for Sunnyvale Community Services, the Sunnyvale nonprofit working to prevent homelessness and hunger in the local community. GROOVE covered two of its 2026 events: the donor Thank You Luncheon at the Sunnyvale Community Center, where donors and corporate partners were honored with awards, and the Back to School backpack giveaway for local families, which we photographed pro bono in partnership with Sero Social, a design and marketing agency.

Both events had a tight run of must-have moments. At the luncheon: every award presentation, board members, speeches, posters, table and collateral details, and the corporate partners being recognized, including Google, Applied Materials Foundation, Intuitive Foundation and Intuitive Surgical, and El Camino Healthcare District. At Back to School: volunteers, families, the backpack handoff and the before-and-after of the supply racks, all in a crowded, fast-moving room.

Worked from a detailed shot list for each event. Back to School was shot alongside a second photographer, with one camera on hero portraits and wides and the other on the volunteer story, parent reactions and backup angles, synced on white balance and clock so both cameras edit as one set. The Back to School images shown here are GROOVE's own frames.
